Saturday 31st January - walks **** – Landguard Nature Reserve –
Mainly cloudy and still.
I had hoped to head Levington for a windsurf foil but the forecast breeze
failed to materialise, in fact it went very light with the sea very flat!
Although it is usually a waste of time sending pics into the TV weather at
the weekend as very few are used but with the wind not blowing I decided to
have a ride round with the camera at 9.30 and was surprised how much rain
we must have had in the night with loads of big puddles everywhere! I
headed down to the dock view point first for a reflection pic, stopping off
at Squiz Lane and home for breakfast. Then after exercises we thought we
would head down to Landguard Nature Reserve for a walk hoping to see the
Snow Buntings. We could not park in Manor Terrance and ended up in a very
wet Squiz Lane at the end of the prom at the Manor end! It was a lovely
afternoon for a walk with light airs with the sea mirror flat with some
glimpses of sun with some cool dark clouds! An old yacht slowly made its
way out to see and I got some nice pics with my long lens, in fact I had
taken both my cameras! With the tide low we walked all the way along the
beach to the old pier by the Orwell. Heading inland a little we returned
through the reserve but sadly no Snow Buntings were spotted:( We did the up
and down hills before returning to the van for a snack lunch followed by
yummy fruit in the afternoon with a cupa, we know how to live!!!
